Ryan Iarossi

I grew up in the Catholic education system throughout elementary and high school, but I was not fully knowledgeable beyond surface-level Catholicism.

My family didn’t practice the faith, and truthfully, I was even skeptical of the faith at times while growing up. This led me to do a lot of studying of other religions and famous philosophers. After years of curiosity, I found that none of this research resonated with me at my core. Additionally, during these years of my adolescence, I fell into habitual vices and began to struggle with my morality.

It wasn’t until the second half of my studies at Brock University when I was reintroduced to the Catholic faith, through a ministry called CCO (Catholic Christian Outreach).

I began learning more about who Jesus is and the relationship He desires with us. I started seriously practicing the faith: reading the Bible, attending Mass, frequenting confession, and attending local young adult church groups.

Rise Up was a pivotal moment for my faith because of the volume of young adults who are passionately engaged in their faith, together.

I had been to Adoration or praise and worship in smaller settings with my local Catholic community and young adults group, but attending Rise Up sincerely encouraged me to drop any embarrassment I might have felt regarding my faith. It showed me how alive the love of Jesus is within the hearts of young adults.

For the last two years, God has opened and closed many doors in my life, and I feel so blessed to walk beside Jesus every day.
