Christina Perera

Is God still doing miracles? Yes, because I’m a walking billboard of it!

From when doctors couldn’t hear my heartbeat at birth, to being brutally attacked in the middle of the night and being told that I have 10 years to live and then a diagnosis that I wouldn’t walk again at age 9, the list goes on. My parents named me Christina because Christ is in my name, to glorify God. I come from a strong family of Catholics. Going to church, saying the rosary & being of service are at the core of my family’s life. Although I’ve had these major tangible miracles happen in my life growing up, I had not yet met Jesus.

My first encounter with God as Abba, my Father, was in adoration at a Gethsemane Youth Retreat. I was in a defeated place in my life as a teenager. As the reflection was led, I began to cry profusely. I experienced this love I had never felt before that melted me. From that retreat, I kept searching for that moment again, from prayer meetings to retreats to conferences, but it wasn’t sustaining. In 2009, my parents started a prayer group called CRL, a ministry branch from Sri Lanka. Br. Lalith taught us the tool of the 4 steps to grow in intimacy with the Lord. I began to grow in my personal prayer where I met Jesus as my brother and then my lover. In the last 20 years of my life, I’ve had moments of growing closer to each person of the Trinity & continued to experience their communion with me. It is with this intimacy with the Lord that I am functioning.

Do you know what your Kingdom Dream is? For me, God has placed a Kingdom Dream in my heart to make disciples of all nations. I’m excited to be the Director of the Encounter School of Ministry - Toronto Campus that is opening in September! This program has personally transformed me and set me on fire to evangelize. It’s a 2 yr course that teaches, equips, activates & deploys disciples to demonstrate the power & love of God in their spheres of influence, through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I’m excited for this new chapter in my life to partner with the Holy Spirit to bring revival to Toronto!
